All About Me

Welcome to Mrs. Galbraith's STARS.  This is my 11th year teaching at Cockrell Elementary and my 31st in education!  I am looking forward to another great year.  In my class we work hard to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL, and RESPONSIBLE.  We also make sure that we are KIND.  That's why we are called STARS --  Safe, Trustworthy (responsible, but I needed a T word), Always kind, Respectful Students.

My favorite subject is Science.  I have some great experiments planned for this year.  I especially like natural science so when it comes to bugs I'm your girl!  We will have lots of different insects in our room throughout the year - ladybugs, praying mantis, butterflies...

I also love to read.  I've always loved to read mysteries.

Don't think I have forgotten math.  I do love it too, especially problem solving.  In second grade, we will be telling time to the minute and counting groups of coins, among other things.  We will have a bunch of fun games to play while practicing.

Even in all the heat we have, I love to be outside.  My family owns several kayaks and we love to go camping.  I am a lifetime member of Girl Scouts USA.  Both my children are scouts.  My daughter is now a Senior Girl Scout.  For her Silver Award project she and two other girls in her troop created a flyer called the First 30 Days of Owning a Pet.  My son is a Life Scout.  He is currently working on his Eagle requirements and has his Eagle project in the works.

I can't wait to meet all my new STARS.  This will be a fantastic year!
