STAAR Accommodations

In Spring 2012, school districts in Texas began using the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test in place of the TAKS test. Accommodations for the STAAR test were revised at that time.

Students identified with dyslexia or with learning disabilities in decoding or reading may be eligible for a variety of accommodations on all content areas of the STAAR and STAAR End of Course assessments.

To be eligible for these accommodations, students must use them routinely in the classroom or in testing situations, and need them to be successful and not fail the course or subject. Such accommodations should also be listed on their 504 Services Plan or IEP.

For the most up-to-date information about testing accommodations, please consult with your campus administrator, dyslexia teacher, or the Texas Education Agency website: at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment/accommodations/staar-telpas/.
