Silverlake P.E. 

COACH PARKER

My name is Cassie Raftis-Parker. This is my 26th year teaching at Silverlake! I have been the P.E. teacher at our school since the doors opened in 1998. I have the BEST job EVER!! It has been such a rewarding experience teaching at this AMAZING school. I have enjoyed watching all of my Silverlake Stars grow and learn from year to year.

It is always a joy to have my former Stars come back for a visit! I even have the privilege of having "Grand-students" - some of my very first students have families of their own and their children attended Silverlake!

 I have two boys, one in 11th grade at Pearland High School and one in 7th grade at Alexander Middle school. Both of my boys attended Silverlake when they were in Elementary school. 🥰 My husband George and I met before I was a PE teacher when I coached gymnastics.  We met through the gymnastics community. George was an Elite coach at SEGA and at Reflex Gymnastics.- (he even had a few gymnasts that qualified for the Olympic trials!)   

I would like to tell you about my background. Originally from the North East, (New York and Connecticut), my parents moved us to Texas when I was in 5th grade. In high school, I attended Ball High in Galveston. I ran track at Ball as a sprinter, relay runner, long jumper and I was a 5A State Champion in track for Ball High School. GO TORS!🌪  I was given a full scholarship in Track and Field to Lamar University where I received my teaching degree. As you can imagine, track and field is my passion!

I was also a competitive gymnast in Galveston for 10 years at "Studio i" and played volleyball through Junior High. I had classical ballet training for 15 years, performing in many ballets with Galveston Ballet. During college and after, I coached gymnastics ending my (gymnastics)coaching career at Reflex in 2004 to continue teaching PE at Silverlake only. 

Hobbies include exercising, reading, crafting, rock painting, swimming, playing with my cats and dogs, embarrassing my children, and being a taxi driver for them! 

MRS. WEIRAUCH

Hi! I'm Mrs. Weirauch and I am your fantastic PE Para! This will be my 4th year working with Coach Parker at Silverlake. I have three daughters and they all attended Silverlake Kinder through 4th grade! I graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Marketing. I met my husband at church. He is a graduate of The University of Texas, so we live in a HOUSE DIVIDED! 😳 😁 My hobbies are reading, crafting, taking naps with my cats, and making Coach Parker and all of our Silverlake Stars LAUGH with the corniest jokes on the PLANET. 🌎

We are super excited about teaching PE together and are dedicated to making this the best year yet!

We are looking forward to getting to know all of our Silverlake Stars!
