About Mrs. Tucker: This is my ninth year at Dawson High School, and my eleventh year teaching English. I am a graduate of Baylor University (Sic 'Em), where I earned my BA in English Literature and minored in History. On campus, I enjoy helping students with College Applications and am a member of the Explorers Club, which went to Ireland and England last summer. This year I am teaching AP English Literature and Composition for seniors. I have previously taught PAP English I and II, AP Capstone Seminar, SAT Prep, On-level English II and III, and a course on Academic Writing. My favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, Sylvia Plath, and Ernest Hemingway. In my free time I can be found reading almost everything from thrillers (like King, Coben, Ware, Nesbo) to fantasy (Sanderson, Novik, Tahir, Rothfuss) to cozy beach-reads (Henry, Center, O'Leary), drinking my beloved coffee, buying too many things on Amazon, overwatering my collection of houseplants, crocheting more blankets than I know what to do with, and swapping film and TV recs with my students (Scorcese, Anderson, Waititi, Gerwig, and Spielberg). I also serve as the proud Department Chair of our extraordinary English Department.
