About Me:

Welcome to my happy place!  🄰

I am Carla Walters.  This is my 34th year in teaching.  I've been meaning to retire for several years (it more than likely will be this year), but I LOVE my students!  I LOVE teaching!  I love math!  So, I'm back, and super excited for another year.

I am from Southwestern Pennsylvania.  I started my teaching career in a small coal mining town in Southwestern Pennsylvania.  I taught Consumer Math, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, BASIC programming, Advanced BASIC programming and computer applications.

Life took me to New Jersey where I had my 2 precious blessings.  Dr. Matthew Walters is a chiropractor in Austin, and married to Dr. Amanda Walters (OB/GYN - Round Rock).  They have blessed me with 2 grandsons who light up my whole world.  šŸ˜  Mrs. Chelsea Foster is my daughter, and married Caleb Foster over the summer.   I never could have dreamed she would become my co-worker!  She is a Geometry/Financial Math teacher here at Turner.  ā¤   I am so proud of these awesome individuals!

The next state on the adventure of life, was back to my birthplace in Illinois.  I taught at Hickory Creek Middle School.  I taught Computer Literacy to all 5th - 8th grade students as well as Pre-Algebra.

Texas has been home for 25 years.  I have taught every math subject from Algebra 1 to AP Statistics (but not calculus yet).  I was a Math Specialist and a Math Instructional Coach and couldn't wait to get back into the classroom and use what I'd learned.

We rocked Algebra 1 last year!  We're ready to do it again!  Let's do this!
