As is tradition, students in grades 3 – 6 from across Texas revealed the books on the list. The Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List is one of the most distinguished children’s literature lists in the country.

The 2X2 books on the list can be read to small children, as well as read by young readers. The list was developed to give parents, caregivers, and teachers a curated list of quality books. These are excellent books for reading during story time at the library or school, at bedtime with a parent or grandparent, or for fun at any time. These books are meant for children aged 2 years to 2nd grade. Corresponding activites for each book can be found on the TLA website!

Graphic novels are engaging and powerful, combining images and text to draw in readers and keep them enthralled. They welcome everyone into a reading conversation, inviting in reluctant readers and English as a Second Language students and giving dyslexic students multiple clues to the storyline. The 2024 Little Maverick Graphic Novel Reading List is a recommended reading list of graphic novels designed for children in grades K-5. These books were selected by public and school librarians who are members of the Texas Library Association’s Children’s Round Table, which promotes services to children and young people.
