PRINCIPLES OF HEALTH SCIENCE
Principles of Health Science exposes the student to the health care system through an investigation of the history of health care, medical ethics, and health care systems, while providing activities in career planning and the development of life skills. This course serves as the entry point for the Health Science Pathway.

• Be Punctual: Arrive to class on time and present assignments on or before

Virtual Classroom Rules / Expectations:
• Be Punctual: Log in on time and present assignments on or before
the due date.
• Be Prepared: Be appropriately dressed and gather all necessary materials before logging in.
• Be Respectful: Video camera on, microphone muted, ask questions via the chat box.
• Be Cooperative: Participate in class activities. Place your cell phone out of reach.
• Be Successful: Log in during all required synchronous times. Utilize virtual tutoring times when needed.
- Minimize distractions for yourself and your peers.
- No eating during class.
- Dress appropriately.
- Keep chat comments on topic and directly related to course content.
- No open tabs outside of Canvas and class related content.
- Adhere to the district virtual learning expectations.
You will be expected to work bell to bell on Health Science. Staying on task is very important in this class. Only the items you are using for the current activity should be on your desk for the duration of class. Please keep all bags, backpacks, or purses off your desk.
CELL PHONES and other technology/accessories will be stored in your bag (or housed at the charging station) for the duration of the class period. Electronic devices may be used only when directed by the teacher for an activity.
The primary method of course communication will be through Canvas. The course calendar and course files will be found here. You will also be expected to submit most assignments through canvas. Please take some time to become familiar with Canvas if you have not done so already.
AFTER AN ABSENCE
For each day absent, you will be given 1 day per day missed to make up an assignment or test. If there was an extended absence or extenuating circumstances, arrangements may be made with instructor.
Major 60% Tests, Quizzes, and major projects/research papers
Minor 40% Daily work, note card checks, homework, and writing assignments
Students will almost always be given ample time to complete assignments in class. Late work may be turned in for a grade no higher than a 70 and must be received within one week.
Students may retake any test on which he or she received a grade of 69 or lower. Students can make no higher than a 70% on any retest or test corrections. It is the student's responsibility to initiate and follow through with the retake process.
