☀ Teacher Mini Biography

Mr. Thomas carries a proud legacy of education, rooted in a family deeply committed to teaching—his parents dedicated a combined 73 years to serving Galveston County schools, and his grandfather played a pivotal role by filing the charter for a local school district in 1941. After two decades in the sales industry, Thomas made a meaningful career shift in 2005, pursuing his lifelong dream to follow in his family's footsteps and contribute to the field of education. Mr. Thomas' philosophy of education is best summed up as “Joyful Inquiry” — a playful, curiosity-driven approach that sees learning not just as a serious endeavor, but as a delightful, laughter-filled journey. Thomas feels that learning thrives when curiosity meets joy — and humor is the spark that keeps the fire going. Mr. Thomas also is father to six children, ages 7, 10, 11, 12, 17 and 20.

Mr. Thomas' Family

Mr. Thomas is also an accomplished writer. He formerly published a column titled The Maceo Dickinson Line by E. Donnie Thomas in the Galveston Daily News, where he explored the rich tapestry of Galveston County’s history and folklore. His articles ranged from the construction of the Causeway and the Electric Interurban railway to the beloved Angel for a Season series. These pieces became some of the most popular among readers, celebrated for their vivid storytelling and deep local insight. Mr. Thomas served on the board of the Dickinson Historical Society and was the editor of its newsletter for many years.

Mr. Thomas' Brisket Box

Thomas' other passion is BBQ - and all that implies. Known worldwide and by sanctioning bodies such as KCBS, IBCA, CBA, "Pitmaster T's" influence spans decades. He began his journey in 1982 at Kreuz Market in Lockhart, Texas, embracing Central Texas traditions before popularizing the “hot and fast” cooking method. In 2007, he launched one of the first BBQ-focused YouTube channels, earning the nickname “The Fellini of BBQ” for his cinematic storytelling. He’s collaborated with brands like Klose, Lang, Old Country BBQ Pits, Pit Boss, BBQ Guru, and J&R Oyler. After teaching hundreds of thousands to build their first drum smoker, he was integral in both the Pit Barrel Cooker and Super 55 Drum Smoker Kit launches. Thomas has been featured in major BBQ publications, inspiring a new generation of pitmasters. With content now being featured on other platform, he is credited as the Original BBQ Content Pioneer.

🎓Degrees and Certifications (Optional)

Mr. Thomas earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Tennessee Technological University, complemented by a minor in Theatre. He is certified in a wide range of educational areas, including Social Studies Composite for grades 6–12, Gifted and Talented instruction, Early Childhood (Pre-K through 6th grade), Generalist for grades 4–8, Family and Consumer Science Composite for grades 6–12, and Special Education for grades K–12.
