Course Syllabus

This is the public page in my Canvas Course that provides relevant information about the club to parents.  Please keep in mind that this page won't be completely updated until I've fully returned to work in August.  Until then, here are the answers to some common questions I usually get in the beginning of the year.

Is there an entrance test?

Yes.  All NEW members will be required to take an entrance test.  This lets me know how strong of a math student you are.  The material does not come from TMSCA.  Instead, the material will come from content students should already know.

When is the first meeting?

We will hold an informational meeting (students ONLY) around 2-3 weeks after school starts.  I can't put a date/time on it now since we're not back and I don't know if the bell schedule is any different.

How often do you meet and on what day(s)?

Again, it depends on the bell schedule for the year.  I can tell you that whenever I need to simulate tests, those will be after school and scheduled/posted in Canvas for the students.

Is there a fee to join?

Yes, last year I placed a $35 fee on each member's Skyward account.  I anticipate this year to be the same.  This will cover supplies I need to buy throughout the year, club shirt, bus fees to each Saturday competition, and the cost to buy a digital copy of the TMSCA tests for the year.  The fee does NOT cover the individual tests that students sign up for during the Saturday competitions and anything state related.

Will there be fundraisers?

I want to do concessions for the football games this year.  Although it will be hot in the beginning, it makes quite a bit of money, and we could use that for state expenses.

When is TMSCA state scheduled?

As of right now, it's tentatively scheduled for April 10, 2027.
