Teacher Bio
A native of Houston, Texas, Ms. Castillo is starting her 10th year as a public-school teacher and 2nd year at Alexander Middle School. Ms. Castillo has had award-winning choirs and orchestras at both the high school and intermediate level. Last year, Alexander Choir took home several awards including Best in Class – 6th grade Mixed at Shadow Creek Choral Festival. Outside of school she teaches for the pARTnerschools organization and the Segundo Barrio Children's Chorus. In addition to her work as an educator, Ms. Castillo is an artist performing with a variety of ensembles, including the GRAMMY®-winning Houston Chamber Choir, Mercury Chamber Orchestra’s Mercury Singers, Pasión, and is an inaugural member of EXIGENCE Vocal Ensemble.
Degrees and Certifications (Optional)
Ms. Castillo earned a Masters in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music. She also holds a Bachelor's in Music Education from Sam Houston State University.
