Teacher Bio
I am excited about the new school year and looking forward to great things. All students will be using Canvas this year so please follow the calendar in Canvas. We will continue using an online format and students will be using the TI-Nspire CX calculator. I am a passionate educator who enjoys finding new and productive ways to utilize technology in the classroom. I believe it is important for students to be able to apply technology for educational and future professional purposes.
Originally from the Midwest, I have over 25 years of teaching experience. After teaching at Junior High West when I came to Texas in 2002, I joined the Berry Miller team and have been a Bobcat since 2008. Teaching has always been my passion. Student empowerment through education today is the key to a successful tomorrow.
When not teaching I enjoy spending time with my 4 adult children and 7 grandchildren who keep me very busy. My husband and I love to go camping in our RV anywhere we can include our dog Barkley. I love the outdoors spending time in my garden, walking trails or on the beach. I am a maker and enjoy many different DIY type projects including sewing, quilting, working with vinyl making wearables and other projects.
If you would like to donate to our classroom here are the items, we will need this year:
Courses:
Algebra 1 will continue in the flipped classroom model. Instruction and notes through video at home. Assignments, questions and activities in the classroom.
Power Math will be taught using a more traditional approach, but still heavy in technology.
The best and fastest way for parents to reach me is through e-mail, arthurg@pearlandisd.org. Students may contact me via Canvas messenger or speak to me directly in tutorials. I believe in building relationships with students which can best be achieved when meeting face to face. Since class time is limited and there are 25-30 students in each class, tutorials becomes the best option for a quick individual discussion.
