Teacher Bio

I’m thrilled to start my 7th year at the Sam Jamison middle School Dual Language team as the 5th and 6th grade Spanish teacher. I’m looking forward to an exciting school year with this amazing group of students. Together we will create a positive and enjoyable environment for all students in my classroom, which will motivate them into actively participating in our curriculum. I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and had the privilege to attend a school that believed in the benefits of a full immersion dual language program, which opened the doors to a whole new world and different cultures. My goals in teaching Spanish are best achieved by creating an active learning environment, based on dialogue and discussion with candid and open communication. I want to connect language and cultural content concepts to students’ life experiences in order to maintain their interest in the subject.

Estoy muy emocionada de empezar mi 7mo año en el gran equipo de Lenguaje Dual de la Escuela Sam Jamison, como la maestra de español/Castellano de 5to y 6to grado. Junto con mis alumnos, crearemos un ambiente positivo y agradable para todos los estudiantes en la clase, lo cual los motivará a participar activamente en nuestro plan de estudios. Nací y crecí en Caracas, Venezuela, y tuve el privilegio de asistir a una escuela que creía en los beneficios de un programa de inmersión en dos idiomas, el cual abrió las puertas a un mundo completamente nuevo y a diferentes culturas. Mis objetivos para la clase de español serán logrados creando un entorno de aprendizaje activo, basado en el diálogo y la discusión; con comunicaciones sinceras y abiertas. Quiero conectar los conceptos de contenido cultural y de lenguaje con las experiencias de vida de los estudiantes para mantener su interés en el tema.
