Cellphones in Pearland ISD
What is expected for parents and students when it comes to cellphones at school. Cellphones in schools come with both advantages and challenges. On the positive side, they provide students with easy access to educational resources, facilitate communication with parents, and enhance learning through interactive apps and tools. However, they also pose potential distractions, increase the risk of cyberbullying, and can lead to issues with cheating during exams. It's crucial to find a balanced approach that maximizes the benefits while mitigating the drawbacks.
We have reviewed community input and best practices when it comes to cellphones in school.
What we are communicating and enforcing this school year is that phones cannot and will not be a distraction to learning. Students without permission will not be allowed to have cellphones out during instruction and learning. If students violate this expectation, the cellphone will be taken and progressive discipline and consequences will be applied.
