Mrs. Flores Science Class
Teacher Bio
Welcome! My name is Monica Flores and I am looking forward to a fantastic 2024-2025 school year in Pre-AP Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and IPC.
I received my Bachelor's in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Texas State University. After graduating I did research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. While doing research I volunteered to judge a Science fair at a local middle school and fell in love with how much kids were excited and curious about Science. I then decided to pursue a career in teaching Science. I can say I absolutely love teaching and have been doing so for 19 years. I have been at Pearland High School for 17 years and have found a home at PHS.
My goal is to ensure your student enjoys learning IPC, Chemistry, and AP Chemistry as much as I enjoy teaching. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
Chemistry is an exciting branch of science that focuses on the study of the composition, structure and properties of matter as well as the changes it goes through during chemical reactions. This course emphasizes reasoning, mathematics, communication, and connections to everyday life.
AP Chemistry is an introductory college level Chemistry course. Students will be expected to take the AP Chemistry exam in May. This course will require an extensive amount of work and studying outside of class time.
IPC is an introductory course to Chemistry in the fall and Physics in the spring. We will discuss topics raning from matter to Newton's Laws of Motion.
