Mrs. Ray
Teacher Bio
Hello, I'm Ami Ray!
I'm not just an English teacher—I'm a wife, a mother, a bookworm, and a believer in the magic of learning. This is my sixth year on this incredible journey called education, and I can't wait to share my passion for all things English with you.
I've got a pretty colorful background, too! I studied University Studies with a major in Dance and minors in English and Psychology at Texas A&M University. Then, I switched gears and majored in Kinesiology at Lamar University. Finally, I completed my teacher's certification through Teachers of Tomorrow. So, whether we're diving deep into literature, dissecting the nuances of language, exploring the human mind, or even breaking down the mechanics of movement, I've got a treasure trove of knowledge to share. But my story doesn't stop at the classroom door. Right now, I'm in the middle of an exciting adventure at Angelo State University, studying to become a school counselor. Why? Because I'm all about supporting you not just academically, but as a whole person. Your dreams, worries, and everything in between matter to me.
Now, let's talk books. I'm not kidding when I say I eat, sleep, and breathe reading. In fact, I've devoured 66 books so far this year alone! From the classics to the latest page-turners, I'm your go-to person for literary recommendations, discussions, and debates. My absolute favorite read of the year has been "Fourth Wing" by Rebecca Yarros—a captivating journey that left me yearning for the sequel coming in November.
Step into my classroom, and you'll find a place where we're not just learning about English. We're uncovering ideas, sharing thoughts, and diving into discussions that spark our curiosity. I'm all about collaboration and having a blast while we're at it. And you know what? Beyond all the grammar rules and essay writing, what matters most to me is you. Your growth, your confidence, and your journey. As I work towards becoming a school counselor, I'm here to listen, guide, and cheer you on every step of the way. So, buckle up and get ready for an adventure in English like you've never experienced before. Let's make this a year of learning, laughing, and maybe even a few "aha" moments. Can't wait to see where this journey takes us!
