Teacher Bio
Welcome parents and students to Rogers Middle School. I am excited to have your child in art class this school year. My name is Laura Rice. This is my 13th year as a classroom art teacher. I began my art teaching career at an early college charter school in the Houston area and then transferred to Pearland ISD where I currently live. I taught at Pearland HS for 5 years. At PHS I taught painting, drawing, AP Studio Art and etc. This is my 3rd year at Rogers Middle School and I absolutely love it here! Besides teaching, I have two art degrees and I am a practicing artist in the community.
I have experience working with Communities In Schools as a Campus Coordinator and Site Director. I worked with underserved students and families in Pasadena ISD, Alvin ISD and surrounding areas. Any child can succeed. At that time I taught and facilitated activities/lessons and brought in community partnerships for those students. I believe art is a pathway to creativity and knowledge as well as relationship building.
I am currently attending graduate school at UHCL to hone in on my counseling skills. Mental health is very important.
I am married to my wonderful husband Michael and we love our spunky crazy kitty Brickey. I love music, attending church and making art.

Tutoring
- Tutorials can be requested by appointment as needed Wednesdays 4pm-4:30pm.
- Tutoring is also offered Tues. and Wed. at 8am as needed.

- ART CLUB REMINDER:
- Parents and students, art club is open to either grade level. Once applications are out, we cannot accept more students in art club for the semester. We are at capacity. Students may work to get an application for spring semester if they choose to sometime in the month of December.
- Also, 5th grade students will get an opportunity to take art at least twice in the school year even if they don't get to join art club. Thank you! :)
