As you follow the powerpoint for Two Tone poem assignment, complete your drafting and revisions by hand and on notebook paper, or if you are comfortable with word processing, use a document and insert text boxes. Use one for the left side of the document (1st draft) and one for the right (2nd draft).
1. Take a sheet of notebook paper and fold it "hot dog." Having a narrow place to form your poem will encourage shorter, pithy lines and precise diction vs. long drawn out descriptions.
2. From your prewriting, select images, phrases, adjectives, verbs to communicate your ideas and form them into a first draft on one side of this notebook paper. Follow the ideas given in the assignment, making sure the poem communicates complete ideas.
3. After you have written one draft, open up the paper and revise for more precise diction. Write your 2nd draft on the other side of the paper.
4. Turn the paper over (or add a new page in your document) and on one side of the paper, write the 3rd draft, paying attention to imagery and how it communicates color and tone.
5. Submit pictures or documents of your drafting and revising to this assignment.
